Purple Velvet Butterfly Cake - September 2011

Monday, September 5, 2011:

Agnes is into insects right now, but you don't exactly want to eat a cake that looks like a centipede. So for Agnes' third birthday, Sara combatted this issue by artfully creating a cake in the style of nature's most aesethically pleasing insect -- a butterfly.

Not only that, but purple is Agnes' favorite color (as she tells each of us almost every day). Sara not only frosted her butterfly masterpiece purple, but the inside was a delicious purple velvet cake.

Fairy House Cake - July 2011

Friday, July 15, 2011:

Lauren -- Sara's little cousin -- loves a good fairy. For her birthday, Sara created this cheerful and festive "fairy house" cake. Everything is edible..... except for the fairy on top!

Cupcake Break - July 4th, 2011

Saturday, July 2, 2011: (Happy 4th of July!)

It's acceptable to sometimes make cupcakes out of the box, when it's with your almost-three-years-old niece.

Easter Creations - April 2011

Saturday, April 23, 2011:

Holidays are a chance to experiment for Sara. For Easter this year, she created some "Easter basket" cupcakes. The Easter basket "grass" was turquoise frosting, the "eggs" were jelly beans, and, the most delicious part, in my opinion, was the Twizzler basket handle!

Sara also put together a small, miniature bunny cake for her niece. Twizzlers acted as whiskers to complete its little face. Its massacred remains signify a delicious outcome.

"No yuck!"

(All that remained.)

Reptil Superhero Cake - March 2011

Saturday, March 5, 2011:

Even if it's a cartoon superhero she hasn't heard of, that doesn't stop Sara! She created this fanciful cake representing "Reptil" (whoever that is exactly...) without knowing exactly who he was....
I guess this is our guy. We're still not quite sure.

Looks pretty good though.

Irish Wedding Cake - March 2011

A St. Patrick's Day wedding called for a festive and Celtic cake!

Luau Hula Dancer Cake - February 2011

Saturday, February 12, 2011:

My friends and I had a luau-themed party for two of our roommates' birthdays. Sara made the party epic by creating this hula dancer cake for us! It tasted even better than it looked too! The majority of the cake was white cake, but the "boobs" were chocolate. Only the coconut bra and the lei were not edible.
